Veridas takes a step further in its international expansion in Latin America by joining Colombia Fintech as a new member.

The Colombia Fintech association brings together the leading Fintech companies in the country, representing the sector to government and international entities.  The association facilitates the strengthening of the members of the entire value chain of financial technology in the country, creating spaces to build bridges of dialogue with both member companies and external allies of interest.

The National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV), the body that regulates in Mexico how digital onboarding should be done in the account opening process for financial entities, carried out an update of the requirements needed for digital onboarding in October 2020, and did it again in May 2021.

 

One of the requirements established by the CNBV is that, during the onboarding process, a biometric check with the INE (National Electoral Institute) must be carried out. The INE is a state institution that has registered the information of all Mexican citizens in its database. This information contains personal data, fingerprints, and photos of the person.

 

Since 2021, INE has offered the possibility of checking facial biometrics through its API. This update allows financial institutions to use facial biometrics to check the identity of their new customers as an alternative to fingerprint biometrics. This represents a significant improvement in the customer conversion process since those entities that use the facial biometrics check with the INE do not require the capture of the fingerprint of their new customers, thus eliminating a step in the onboarding process.

Use of INE's facial verification service

INE requires that the biometric matching process be physically performed within its servers. In addition, the installation of the biometric engine at INE cannot be done by just any biometric vendor. Such installation requires at least one financial institution to request the INE to use the biometric provider.

 

Thus, Veridas has installed its facial biometric engine within the facilities offered by the INE and has done so hand in hand with BBVA Mexico, the leading financial institution in the country, being one of the first technology providers to do so.

Veridas' effective and proven solution

Veridas, in addition to being evaluated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in verification (1:1) and identification (1:N), has adapted its biometric comparison algorithm for the selfie vs. credential use case in Mexico. This optimization is vital since the Mexican credential has a printed texture that makes the biometric matching process difficult unless computer vision algorithms developed by Veridas are used.

 

Veridas’ biometric engine is more than 99% effective in facial authentication. In addition, it is a lower friction solution for the end customer and is much less expensive than the current fingerprint solution.

 

To date, four of the country’s leading banks are testing the solution, and one is already in production. El onboarding digital de Veridas

Zity by Mobilize, el servicio de carsharing eléctrico que basa su modelo de negocio en el alquiler de vehículos eléctricos por minutos, ha cerrado un acuerdo de colaboración con Veridas, compañía tecnológica especializada en el desarrollo de soluciones biométricas para la verificación digital de la identidad.

Contratar la tecnología de Veridas ha permitido a Zity agilizar el onboarding de sus nuevos clientes. Ahora, el registro de usuarios a través de su app cuenta con una verificación biométrica tanto del documento de identidad como de la licencia de conducir. De esta forma, el proceso se ha agilizado, mejorando la experiencia del usuario, reduciendo costes y fortaleciendo la seguridad del sistema.

La integración entre ambas soluciones comenzó el pasado 28 de marzo, con el último update de la app. Anteriormente, los usuarios de Zity debían esperar hasta 24 horas para que, tras completar el registro, la documentación fuera validada. Gracias a la integración de Veridas, ahora la verificación de la documentación es automática, por lo que, una vez completado y verificado el registro, el usuario ya puede comenzar a utilizar el servicio de forma inmediata. Esta funcionalidad ya está disponible en Madrid y próximamente lo estará en París y Lyon.

Enghouse Interactive, proveedor global líder de software de contact center y video colaboración, y Veridas, referente mundial en el desarrollo de soluciones biométricas para la verificación digital de la identidad, han firmado un acuerdo de colaboración para la integración de sus respectivas soluciones con el fin de ofrecer una alternativa de autenticación omnicanal robusta y segura a empresas de todo el mundo en los sectores financiero, salud y administración pública, entre otros.

Gracias a la integración con Veridas, Enghouse incorpora en sus sistemas de Contact Center y Videoconferencia las tecnologías de biometría facial, de voz e identificación de documentos, para así garantizar a sus clientes seguridad en cada transacción digital que realicen de una forma segura, transparente y cómoda.

Un impacto positivo para la sociedad, la economía y el medioambiente

La creciente y acelerada necesidad de realizar trámites a distancia, evitando los desplazamientos y el contacto directo con las personas, ha abierto la oportunidad de implementar nuevos y más seguros métodos de verificación de identidad, como la tecnología biométrica basada en Inteligencia Artificial.   

Enghouse es consciente que un usuario y una contraseña ya no son la medida de seguridad más eficiente. Incluso el doble factor de autenticación en base a métodos tokenizados (ej. OTPs) han demostrado no ser métodos fiables a la hora de verificar la identidad real de una persona que se dispone a realizar una transacción. Cada vez hay más casos de credenciales de acceso robadas y suplantación de identidad. Es entonces cuando volteamos la mirada hacía los sistemas de autenticación biométrica, que resultan ser más fiables, pues se basan en datos biológicamente únicos e inherentes del usuario (voz, rostro) para verificar la identidad, a diferencia de métodos basados en factores de conocimiento (ej. contraseñas) o factores de posesión (ej. OTPs).

Estos son algunos de los principales motivos por los que Enghouse ha decidido integrar en su solución de Contact Center y la plataforma Vidyo el sistema de autenticación biométrica de Veridas, que permite verificar la identidad de los clientes de forma pasiva mientras los agentes conversan con ellos de forma remota, con tan solo 3 segundos de audio y con una precisión superior al 99,9%. Además, Veridas también cuenta con tecnologías complementarias de biometría facial y verificación de documentos, lo que permite desplegar la solución que sea más conveniente en cada momento y canal. Todo un engranaje perfecto para evitar la suplantación.

Acuerdo entre Evolutio y Veridas

Evolutio, compañía experta en la integración de servicios cloud, y Veridas, considerada como uno de los referentes a nivel mundial en el desarrollo de soluciones biométricas para la verificación digital de la identidad, unen sus fuerzas para acelerar la adopción de la autenticación biométrica por voz en los Contact Center de las principales compañías del mercado ibérico. Y es que la aplicación de la tecnología biométrica de voz a un entorno de Contact Center aporta muchas ventajas: 

1. Reducción drástica del Tiempo Medio Operativo (TMO) y, por lo tanto, los costes asociados al mismo.  De media, los Contact Center dedican entre 30 y 45 segundos a verificar una identidad en base a preguntas y en cambio, gracias a la autenticación mediante biometría de voz de Veridas, los clientes de Evolutio son capaces de identificar una persona con tan solo 3 segundos de su voz de manera totalmente pasiva, ya que la solución es independiente del texto y del idioma utilizado.

2. Aumento de la seguridad gracias a una tecnología mucho más fiable que los métodos tradicionales, pasando de la presunción a la certeza en la verificación de una identidad. Los métodos actuales simplemente verifican que la persona al otro lado del teléfono sabe algo (ej. una contraseña, un DNI o una dirección) o posee algo (ej. un OTP, una tarjeta de coordenadas o el acceso a una cuenta de correo electrónico). Pero en cambio, la biometría es capaz de comprobar características o atributos inherentes a la misma persona, como lo es su cara o su voz, de manera que la seguridad alcanzada es inigualable.

3. Mejora de la experiencia de los usuarios finales, eliminando por completo las contraseñas u otros procedimientos de verificación de la identidad, largos y tediosos. En este sentido, las tasas de aceptación de estas soluciones, en aquellos clientes que ya las están utilizando, superan el 80% en primera llamada. Y las tasas de conversión para clientes ya registrados, se llegan a situar por encima del 99%, como en el caso del BBVA en México cuando permite que sus pensionistas den fe de vida a través de una sencilla llamada telefónica.

4. Creación de una estrategia 100% omnicanal gracias a la posibilidad de aplicar una misma medida de autenticación en cualquier vía de interacción con cliente: canal telefónico, aplicaciones móviles, plataformas de mensajería, etc. Esta capacidad única, hace de esta solución un método tremendamente atractivo, escalable y conveniente.

En cambio, durante el proceso de adopción, pueden surgir dudas o preguntas, muchas de ellas relacionadas con la facilidad de implementación. Sobre todo, en lo que tiene que ver con los Contact Center, ya que son estructuras complejas en cuanto a  su arquitectura y funcionamiento.
